Tips to Remove Duplicate Links in Sitemaps in Drupal


Drupal is an open source CMS (Content Management System) and CMF (Content Management Framework) that is written in PHP programming language. It is developed and maintained by a community of web developers and software users. It is a free software package and it is distributed under the general public license.

Search engine optimization (seo) or achieving higher ranking in the search engine page result is one of the major objectives of any website – be in corporate or personal website. You would want your website to appear on top of the search engine results page so that you get maximum clicks and visitors to the site. However, if your website is not optimized, the whole purpose of creating a website for enhancing your business would be defeated.

Several factors can be responsible for lowering your Drupal website search engine rankings. The most common factor that affects the website’s ranking is the duplicate links and content indexed on the site. Another alternative to remove the duplicate links from the Drupal website is to remove the already installed website module and re-install the new and advanced Drupal’s XML sitemap module. This module allows you create a sitemaps that are recognized better by the search engines. While installing the module, you have the option to include or exclude certain content types such as articles, pages and taxonomy. If you wish to remove a particular content link from the sitemap generated by the module you can remove the same by manually excluding it from the content editor. Refresh the sitemap and the link you excluded would be removed automatically.

1) An enterprise CMS focuses on content and documents oriented towards the organizational processes of a business enterprise, and have a primary function in managing the organization’s unstructured information content.

2) A Web CMS focuses on content and documents specifically designed for Web publication by non-technical content creators.

3) A component CMS focuses on content within documents, often managing structured content, such as XML, to locate, link and render content at any level of organization.  This content is then often sent over to Enterprise and Web Content Management Systems. 

The five primary aspects of Content Management Systems include the following:

1) Versioning. The ability to keep, and roll back as required, previous versions of content, even after content is updated.

2) Granular User Management. This is the ability to assign and differentiate users based upon permission levels.

3) Content Organization and Relation. This is the ability to position content in both larger organizational structures as well as in relation to other content.

4) File and Image Management.  This is the ability of the system to store files in relation to the content that uses them.

5) Multi-State Content. This refers to the system’s ability to store content in a variety of states, from ‘in-progress’ to ‘archived’ to ‘active’ or ‘inactive’.

Along with these core functional requirements of a basic CMS, such systems often include a collection of other features and enhancements including extensibility and integration, scheduled publishing and expiration, task management and collaboration, among others.  The capability of such systems to pick and choose among such a wide array of functions provides evidence that no strict definition yet exists.  The CMS, as a technology structure, continues to advance as users and developers define and refine their needs and definitions.

Learn How to Change the Width of a Joomla Template


Many times as a Joomla developer you will encounter what seems like a very simple problem but actually it is not as easy as you may have originally thought. As an example, changing the default width of a template for your Joomla site seems simple enough, but where do you begin?

Most quality templates come with the ability to alter the width of the template as well as the width of any side columns. When you see the total width of the template, you should be aware that this includes the width of any side columns included in the template. Thus, if a template says its width is 962 pixels and the left and right columns are 210 pixels each, the middle column will be 542 pixels wide.

In this article, I will explain how to change the total width of a Joomla template as well as how to change the width of any side columns that may be in the template. In creating this article, I have assumed that you have a current version of Joomla installed and you are familiar with the administrator area.

The first step is to access the back end administration area of your Joomla site and go to the “Extensions” menu then choose “Template Manager”. Next, choose your default template and either click on its name or click on the box next to its name and then click on “Edit”.

You will want to make a note of the original width of the template and any side columns as they are before you make any changes in case you wish to revert back to the original settings. To change one of the columns, look for the column in the “parameters” area, make your change and click “Apply” and then view the change in the front end to see if you achieved the desired affect. If you wish to change another column, just repeat the previous procedure on the next column.

If you want to keep the side columns the same width, but want to change the overall width of the template, just change the template width parameter only. This will only change the center column width leaving any others as they were originally. When you are satisfied with the new width, click on “Save” and then go to the front end of your site, hit refresh, and view the results. Note: not all template developers offer these parameters, however any quality template should have them included in the administrator area.

For removing and adding data, you will also have to create new user information. Ensure to save the database password, username, and name or domain. After completing this process, you can return back on your Webmin control center.

Step 5:

Now, on your Web-hosting account, you will have to upload the Drupal files. To successfully achieve this goal, you can make use of the Webmin File Manager. Other users may also prefer to use an FTP software program such as SmartFTP or FileZilla.
